LVHN to add behavioral health hospital – Times News Online

Lehigh Valley Health Network and Universal Health Services announced plans to build a new 144-bed behavioral health hospital.

The proposed new joint-venture facility will be located on Macada Road in Hanover Township, across from the Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg campus.

The partnership combines two leaders in health care: UHS, one of the nation’s leading providers of behavioral health care, and LVHN, long respected for its behavioral health program in our region, to address the growing demand for high-quality behavioral health care services for seniors, adults and adolescents.

RICHMOND — Lawmakers introduced proposals to help improve standards at Virginia nursing homes and facilities, and to address the health care worker shortage exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Del. Bobby Orrock Sr., R-Caroline, introduced House Bill 1446, which would set minimum staffing requirements for certified nursing facilities. A nursing facility, which includes nursing homes, provides health-related services on a continuing basis, according to state code.

The measure passed the House on a nearly unanimous vote of 95-2 and was put in place in a finance committee after unanimously clearing a Senate health committee.

Health officials in Newburyport have closed all beaches on Plum Island for swimming due to elevated levels of bacteria in the water.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health informed the city of the elevated levels on Friday and follow-up tests on Monday showed that bacteria levels still exceeded the state’s allowable limit, according to city officials.

The updated closure now includes Plum Island Point Beach and the beach accessed through the pathway at 55th Street.

Signage has been placed at the entrances and parking lots of the public beach. The public may visit the beach as long as they stay
