Colorado researchers theorize that fructose metabolism may be the driving force behind Alzheimer Disease pathology. Diets high in sugar and high glycemic index carbohydrates would exacerbate the problem. Salt may also play a role. Fructose is a simple sugar (a monosaccharide) typically found in fruit, honey, and some vegetables. Table sugar is sucrose, a combination of fructose with a glucose molecule. Modesto has a new nonprofit health clinic as Livingston Community Health branches out

Livingston Community Health has opened a clinic in Modesto to serve local residents, many who are not seeing a doctor regularly.

The Modesto Health Center, at 2116 E. Orangeburg Ave., is the eighth clinic location for the Livingston-based nonprofit, which has a mission to serve vulnerable populations.

Four years ago, Livingston Health took over operation of Stanislaus County’s health services clinics in Turlock and Hughson through an outsourcing arrangement. It has two clinics in Livingston and also serves patients in Delhi, Hilmar and Waterford.

For a second year, the University of Alberta’s Black Medical Students’ Association (BMSA) hosted an open health fair in an attempt to address what it says are issues with access and representation in health care for members of Edmonton’s Black community.
