Stocks came under pressure Tuesday but recovered from steeper early after a warning about US bank health and surprisingly weak Chinese trade data sent shivers through markets.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) dropped about 0.4%, or 150 points. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 (^GSPC) was down about 0.4%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) slipped 0.8%, both paring losses of more than 1% earlier Tuesday.

Worries about US banks were revived after Moody’s downgraded 10 small and midsize institutions, which came with a warning it could lower credit ratings for some of the nation’s biggest lenders. It flagged risks in

Forget Fad Diets. AI Knows Exactly What You Should Eat for Your Best Health

I knew a guy in college who could consume heaping bowls of ice cream without any discernable effect on his six-pack abs. I’ve been wondering ever since why my body doesn’t respond that way to my favorite dessert—or, for that matter, if I’ll ever find one that I won’t regret the next day when I step on the scale. Recent advances in nutrition science now are edging closer to delivering on my dream of dessert with impunity—and a lot of other health benefits, besides.

It’s long been obvious, to scientists and lay people alike, that each person responds differently to

Health care will continue to bleed staff unless changes are made, advocates say – The Virginian-Pilot

RICHMOND — Lawmakers introduced proposals to help improve standards at Virginia nursing homes and facilities, and to address the health care worker shortage exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Del. Bobby Orrock Sr., R-Caroline, introduced House Bill 1446, which would set minimum staffing requirements for certified nursing facilities. A nursing facility, which includes nursing homes, provides health-related services on a continuing basis, according to state code.

The measure passed the House on a nearly unanimous vote of 95-2 and was put in place in a finance committee after unanimously clearing a Senate health committee.

At least eight Palestinians have been killed in raids by Israeli forces on the Palestinian city of Jenin, one of the largest incursions into the occupied West Bank in 20 years.

More than 50 people were injured in the attack that included airstrikes, with the death toll likely to rise, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Israel targeted what it described as a “unified command center” for the militarism of the Jenin Brigades in the densely populated refugee camp in the city.

Israel says its forces found explosives during a search of a mosque. In a statement, the Israeli Defense
