Interior Health is praising Vernon for its leadership on supportive housing.

A letter from IH CEO Susan Brown to mayor Victor Cumming expresses “heartfelt gratitude to you and the council for your unwavering advocacy and dedication to fostering community partnerships.”

The letter is included in the agenda package for Monday’s council meeting.

In it, Brown says Vernon’s efforts “have been instrumental in developing safe and supportive housing for community members in Vernon and its surrounding areas.”

After February’s cataclysmic series of earthquakes, the world poured emergency relief into Turkey and Syria. But some of those who suffered the most were nearly impossible to reach. they were already fighting to survive a war zone. Recently, we traveled to this battleground in northwest Syria to meet an American medical charity that braved the odds — bringing hands of healing and hope.

New analysis of prisoner health care highlights risks to patient safety

Substantive changes are needed to improve patient safety in prisons, according to a new study published by the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine. Practical changes such as timely access to health care services and better processes to mitigate medication-related harm should be prioritized, according to the researchers.
