Arthritis Research Canada Strength Training Study Stands to Help People with Arthritis Build More Than Muscle
VANCOUVER, BC, March 9, 2023 /CNW/ – Strength training is safe for people with arthritis. It also comes with many benefits such as improved mental health, reduced pain, fatigue and swelling, as well as decreased risk for heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Yet, only a third of the general population participates in regular strength training, and that number is even lower among people with arthritis.
International physical activity guidelines recommend adults engage in strength training exercises at least twice a week. Arthritis Research Canada is working to help people with arthritis do strength training on a regular basis.
